It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our former partner and friend, Stanley B. Kita, who passed away in Florida on February 28, 2020. A graduate of Drexel University, B.S.M.E., 1962 and Temple University, J.D., 1966, Stan practiced with Howson & Howson for fifty years from 1967 until his retirement in 2017. During his time with Howson & Howson, Stan was lead attorney in many Intellectual Property (IP) cases before the federal district and appellate courts in the United States and handled numerous inter partes administrative proceedings in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Stan also served as federal master in a post-trial patent damages proceeding, an active member of the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association, and as an AAA arbitrator. Although Stan’s accomplishments were numerous, Stan’s legacy far exceeds any mere list of legal accolades. Stan had a rare combination of common sense and a gift for congeniality and civility which was evidenced by many long-term relationships with clients, associates and partners. Stan’s legacy continues on in those attorneys he mentored over the years.
Stan was an avid pilot, as well as a participant in the Big Brother program. We extend our deepest condolences to Stan’s wife Pat and the rest of their family.
Stan and I were friends for more than 50 years having met at Warrington Airport, Warrington, PA and is very much missed. RIP Stan.
