Francis J. Coffey is an attorney specializing in life science and biotechnology patents. He is experienced in patent drafting and prosecution, due diligence, managing large domestic and foreign portfolios, and preparation of non-infringement and invalidity opinions.

Prior to working in intellectual property law, Francis completed five years of postdoctoral training at the Fox Chase Cancer Center. As a scientific researcher, Francis focused on the fields of cell and molecular biology, immunology, and virology. In particular, he has extensive experience studying various aspects of lymphocyte development, the immune response, and autoimmunity. His research has been published in prominent scientific journals including Immunity, Journal of Experimental Medicine, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Francis received a B.S. in Biology from Villanova University and a Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis from Thomas Jefferson University. He received his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
