Colleen M. Schaller has been with Howson & Howson LLP since 2008, becoming a partner in 2016. Colleen's practice is focused on domestic and foreign patent procurement in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemistry fields. Colleen manages worldwide patent portfolios for her clients, handling matters in over 25 countries. In addition, she works with multiple partners and licensees of her clients, managing client requirements, and partner relationships on a daily basis. Colleen also counsels her clients on all matters related to intellectual property portfolio management, budgeting, contract advisement, and due diligence practice.
Prior to her entry into intellectual property law, Colleen worked as a research associate for both a small biotech firm, where she carried out drug discovery research to identify small molecules affecting therapeutic targets in cancer biology, inflammation, Alzheimer's disease and HIV/AIDS via novel RNA-based mechanisms and a large multinational pharmaceutical company. Her time in the lab has allowed Colleen to take a practical approach to her patent practice.
Colleen has been a member of the Law Practice Management Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Colleen previously served as chair of the subcommittee which produced the popular 2013 Economic Survey of the AIPLA. Colleen recently co-authored an article that was presented at the 30th Annual Joint Patent Practice Seminar (JPPCLE)
